Tess the Takahe

Tess the Takahē is strong, steady and happiest when all her friends are safely together. She takes her time on the forest paths, noticing bent grass, loose stones and small clues that Kip the Kea often rushes past. When Kip and Koko lose sight of the track during an enthusiastic treasure hunt, Tess calmly retraces their steps while Tahi the Tūī calls from above. She finds the way back without any fuss and waits until everyone has caught their breath before continuing. Tess is never worried about being the fastest. She knows that patience, courage and looking after others are what help a group reach the end of an adventure together.
